This place is phenomenal! Stopped by on a work trip and I will definitely be making a trip back just to visit. I had the chicken n waffles and a side of fried pickles. Highly suggest!!

Had a great afternoon dinner here at Old South today. The Monday Meat Loaf special was delicious with a huge portion that also included two sides. The pinto beans were nicely seasoned. We also ordered their soup and sandwich special. I chose meatloaf sandwich, again a huge, delicious portion of meatloaf on a hoagie bun. The vegetable soup hit the spot too. Fast and friendly service was a plus.

Old South Restaurant right off I-85’s exit for Butner NC was surprisingly and delightfully refreshing and super tasty. We had a wonderful waitress named Renee who took the time to help with the choices which led me to the vegetable platter of three delicious dishes of collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy (All superb). My son had fried oysters and shrimp with very tasty breading along with sides of macaroni and cheese and collards.. He topped off with banana pudding and brownie to go. Their sweet tea was impeccable. Everything we had tasted homemade and fresh, also confirmed by the waitress. The flavors of this food lingers prompting serious desire for return trip. So worth the time to stop.

The name says it all. Great mom and pop's place. The staff is friendly and everyone knows each other. A locals hideout, when you're greeted by granny or grandpa at the front register you know it's the real deal.

Old South is a good name for this place. Old country style food your grandmother might make for you. Comforting, delicious, and extremely affordable (the giant cup of navy beans and ham was 3). Everything needed some salt, but that's to be expected, as the clientele is mostly elderly (at least when I was there). This isn't a problem though, salt shakers exist, and the flavors were phenomenal. Reminded me of many good meals in days of yore.

For the truckers who park across the street at the truck stop, as long as there's room, this place is absolutely excellent Southern homestyle food. The average price is anywhere from 9.50 a plate to 15.95 basically everything a true Southern home cooked meal would have. Including seafood on the menu. I went for the shredded barbecue pork with collard greens and deep fried pickles. For all of you out there please remember covid-19 has hit the small mom and pop places hard. This place absolutely deserves our business. They did an outstanding job. Of course I would ask that the waiter not wear sweatpants but when the food is that good and the atmosphere is great I'll still keep coming back over and over again.

We stopped in for a late lunch and were very pleased. Friendly staff and the food was very good. We had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was very good! I took a look at the desserts, and splurged on the chocolate cream pie - absolutely delicious! Wish I could have tried the other desserts as they also looked scrumptious! Total bill for two sandwiches and piece of pie was around 21. Can't beat it!
